Despite the editing of the first edition, many flaws may have remained. I hope readers will forgive me. I have no doubt that I have written "Madhukari" for future generations of readers. However, many readers of this generation will probably read this novel with interest. Because, the present rolls and reaches the future. I got help from many people to write this novel. The Managing Director of the Tourism Development Corporation of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Shri. K. Bagchi asked me to write a book in Bengali for Madhya Pradesh about Bengali tourists. He also promised all kinds of regular government hospitality and assistance. One such book, in English, was written a few days ago by the famous poet and novelist Dom Moraes. I could not accept Mr. Bagchi's offer because it was not possible for me to go to Madhya Pradesh again and again and stay for a long time to write that book. Writing is not my job, addiction. I don't have to be less busy with my profession and I don't have to travel less every month. Apart from that, no creative writer would agree to write a booklet for tourists easily. Fortunately, the purpose for which Mr. Bagchi made this proposal has been fulfilled without any help from the Madhya Pradesh government. Although Madhukari is not a booklet for the welfare of tourists, the Bengalis may have rediscovered Madhya Pradesh through this novel. Mr. Bagchi wrote a letter twice in the last one year asking if they would respond if their tour was announced. Before the last puja, when he came to Calcutta for an exhibition on Madhya Pradesh, he also showed it. Many thanks. Really Madhya Pradesh is such a diverse and beautiful state that I want to write more in its background, if time permits.
